Crowded 40 minute wait so we decided to sit at the bar. Had the best experience at dinner ever. We ended up getting 4 appetizers and a few drinks. I wish I could remember the bartenders name. He could have been the manager idk anyways he made my daughter damn near every drink on the kids menu she had a great time. We had scallops, shrimp, crab cakes, calamari, and the burnt ends. I would order all of it again. They also have a decent sized whiskey list as well! 10/10 would go again.

Group of 10 ladies met for a weekend brunch and it was a wonderful experience. We were seated promptly, our server was excellent, and the food was very flavorful with a lovely presentation. Splitting tickets was not an issue and we were all delighted with the entire experience.

2-14-2025 Lunch on valentine's day. Prime rib french dip and a cup of gumbo with thru fabulous cornbread for the hubby. Shrimp and grits for me! So yummy! Will go again. Spencer was great. Nice atmosphere. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the jambalaya. Plenty of shrimp, sausage, and chicken. Was pleasantly surprised that the shrimp tails were removed. He had the cornbread which was amazing. I enjoyed the short rib, made and roasted vegetables. Everything was so good.

Nicole was our server. She was delightful and very attentive. The drinks were made well and strong. I had the onion burger no bun plus bacon and cheese. The creamed brussel sprouts were very good. For dessert I tried the chocolate martini. It was a little too sweet for my taste but very yummy We will come here again

The Brass Onion in Overland Park is a standout destination for comfort food with a sophisticated twist. Our experience was fabulous from start to finish, and it’s clear this restaurant has found its rhythm when it comes to quality, flavor, and warm hospitality. For entrées, we ordered Mr. B’s Fried Chicken and the Shrimp and Grits, and both were exceptional. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and seasoned to perfection—comforting and nostalgic while still elevated. The shrimp and grits were rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, offering a classic Southern dish with just the right balance of boldness and finesse. To finish the meal, we shared the Chocolate Pecan Pie, which was everything a dessert lover could hope for—decadent, gooey, and layered with flavor from the buttery crust to the nutty, chocolatey filling. Service was attentive and genuine throughout, adding to the welcoming and well-paced dining experience. The ambiance was relaxed yet polished, perfect for anything from a date night to a family celebration. We’re already looking forward to going back and exploring more of the menu. The Brass Onion is a standout spot in the Overland Park dining scene—and one that absolutely deserves repeat visits.

I stopped in for lunch around 1:00 PM on a Wednesday and was surprised to see the place almost empty—only one other couple was there. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside, and the service was excellent. I started with a cup of gumbo that came with cornbread. The gumbo was wonderful—full of flavor with a perfect spice level for my taste. Personally, I tend to prefer a thicker roux, but that’s just my preference. The flavor itself was outstanding. Next up was the fried chicken plate, which came with mashed potatoes, greens, cornbread, and a side of gravy. The greens were very high quality but a little flat for my taste. They could have used a bit more seasoning—maybe some salt or even a splash of vinegar. I tend to like my greens a little sweeter, but the ingredients themselves were clearly good. The cornbread was fantastic—sweet with a honey topping and honestly didn’t even need butter. The mashed potatoes tasted homemade and were super thick, which I really liked. On their own they seemed like they might need salt, but once I tried them with the gravy it all made sense. The gravy was extremely well seasoned—some of the best chicken gravy I’ve ever had. Thick mashed potatoes dipped in that gravy were absolutely perfect. And then the fried chicken… it tasted like something my grandmother would have made. Perfect flavor, crispy outside, and incredibly moist and tender inside. I don’t think it was cooked to order, but that honestly wasn’t a negative at all. It came out at the perfect temperature and was so flavorful it almost tasted like butter was running through the meat. I’m from Texas and take my fried chicken pretty seriously, and this was truly some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. I also noticed what looked like a really impressive whiskey selection behind the bar. Overall, this place was a huge surprise. I spent about $31 for the gumbo and fried chicken plate, which felt completely fair for an upscale lunch like this. I’m honestly shocked it

So we started out at Veritas across the street in all honesty no one greeted us at the front door, except for the bartender who did tell us to go to the patio and they would meet us there. A server with long braided hair passed by us three different times within about six minutes never stopped by, never dropped off any menus, waters nothing. So we left. Thankfully, we were greeted at The Brass Onion by the nicest hostess with a smile, and sat at the most comfortable well appointed table, and were taken care of by server Blake, who went above and beyond to give us a fantastic visit. My husband had an Arnold Palmer – they made a fresh batch of iced tea for it & enjoyed a salmon and spinach salad. He said the salmon was fabulous. I had a “you want smoke” drink that was the best I’ve had in a long time, cornbread, which came over- abundantly, and bacon wrapped scallops that were perfection. Very sad that FIFA has overtaken the city and they weren’t getting the attention they absolutely deserve. We are super picky eaters, and drinkers -absolutely hate bad service - i& this place is awesome. I would recommend them every time you want to go out especially in Overland Park. 🙌🏻

We really enjoyed our visit to The Brass Onion! Our server was excellent, and he made fantastic recommendations. We went during brunch/late lunchtime on a Saturday and had no issues getting seated. Although one of their signature dips, the Brass Onion Dip, was decent, we would suggest skipping that and going for the NOLA BBQ Shrimp appetizer. The beignets were great, too!
